Frequently Asked Questions

What is the weather like in September in Puglia?

September is one of the best periods to venture to Puglia. With average temperatures during the day of 25 degrees and lows of 20 at night, you’ll experience gorgeous, sunny days and perfectly balmy evenings. There is always a chance of rain (we hope not…) and late evenings can become a little chilly once the sun goes down.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Friday and Saturday will take place under the Apulian evening. Sunday is a poolside party in the daytime (so wear your sunscreen!).

Where will we be staying? When do we need to book our accommodation?

Please see the ‘Where to Stay’ section for further information. Whilst September is nearing the end of the tourist season in Puglia, we recommend booking accommodation as soon as possible.

How do I get there?

Please see the Travel Details section for more info. We recommend booking your flights as soon as possible.

I have heard there are no taxis in Puglia, how will I get to the venue?

We will be putting on transport from central points in Monopoli and Ostuni to Borgo San Marco (the venue) in accordance with the three days of fun! So you don’t have to worry about going/coming back from the venue, we are recommending you to stay in these locations.

If you are staying somewhere else, we will share a number of a private transport company that you can prebook transportation with or you can organize this through your accommodation.

For more information please refer to the Travel Details section for more info.

I don’t drive or hate driving on the right (wrong) side of the road, how will I get around Puglia?

It is true, taxis are difficult to find in Puglia and there are no apps such as Uber, Bolt, Lyft, Ola or Grab which is quite annoying.

If you are extending your stay please do consider getting the trains around Puglia, organizing transport via your accommodation or jumping in with someone who does drive as this is the best way to explore all the little towns and beaches that Puglia is best known for.

Refer to the Travel Details section for more info.

What shoes should I wear?

Please note all three events will take place on grass and stone that can be uneven in places. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and no stilettos!

What clothes should I wear?

There is no obligation to wear indian or western clothes, so please wear something that you feel most comfortable in and you will look amazing regardless!

On the first night, if you are wearing western clothes please wear vibrant and colourful, but no black (as its not considered to be good luck). On the day of the wedding, wear something that will take you from the late afternoon into the early hours of the night.

See some style inspo in the Attire section.

I am not Indian or of Indian origin will I be culturally appropriating if I wear an Indian outfit?

If Mark Zuckerberg and Ivanka Trump can do it, then so can you! LOL not exactly great role models to reference. No but seriously, if you feel comfortable to do so then we would love for you to wear an Indian outfit! It will be cultural appreciation as opposed to cultural appropriation, so please don’t worry that you will offend anyone.

Cultural appropriation would be if you were to wear an Indian outfit as a costume to mimic or disrespect Indian culture or people which no one invited to this wedding would do anyway.

I don’t have an Indian outfit but would like to wear something Indian. Do you have any tips of where to start looking?

Our knowledge is only UK based, so if you don’t live in a place with high concentration of Indians or south Asians (this must be a very rural place), the internet is your friend!

For those UK based, if you do not have many future opportunities to wear your Indian clothes again then consider renting an Indian outfit. A few UK websites that do this are: https://byrotation.com/designers/indian, https://bollywoodborrowed.com/ (south London based and recommended by fellow guest, Hugh Dixon), https://www.showstopper-london.co.uk/.

If you would like to keep your outfits forever, then have a look at shops in Southhall, Wembley and Tooting. You can also find ready made outfits at a range of different prices on Etsy, H&M (Diwali collection) and a few independent places such as https://kanyalondon.com/ (they stock on ASOS as well), https://www.kalkifashion.com/, https://www.houseofindya.com/ and https://www.perniaspopupshop.com/indian-clothing-uk-ready-made .
